Moving into a Barn
Only three weeks in the garage, something foreseen and something unforeseen happened. The foreseen part was that it started freezing, not that unusual in Belgium by the end of November and we had our heating so not a problem. The unforeseen part was that as a result, the owner of the building turned off the water supply to the garage boxes to protect the pipes. One of the three unavoidable ingredients of concrete is water so that was pretty annoying. Even more bothersome was the fact that the end of November is particularly important in getting store orders made and delivered before the Christmas period. It is soft to say we were a bit desperate at the time. This had been everything we were working up to so hard and now it seemed like we wouldn’t be able to deliver.
After some calling around and looking for emergency spaces, we decided that the emergency room in a hospital was probably not meant for this kind of situations. Instead we had so much luck in finding out that Anneleen her grandma (a farmer) had some vacant space during winter (not a lot of crops to grow then). One day later, after a crazy nightly moving with the biggest moving van we could possibly drive with our normal driving license and while it started snowing, we installed everything in a barn.

Working at the barn with Anneleen her grandma coming in from time to time for a chat with a cookie, some tea or home grown vegetable soup was certainly nice.
Why trees?
Greenwashing, recycling & real ecology. We often get the question. Why trees? Why do you plant one tree per product? Why not just lay solar panels on your roof, use ecologic/biologic ingredients and recycle all your stuff and be done with it? Just like all the other ‘eco’ companies are doing?
